Y'kno, some days at work really wear you out.
I get sent this guy with super heavy borg upgrades. Cybernetics have a way of messing with your head. Fake limbs where real ones should be, new parts a normal human body never had. It gets to you. But from reading this kid's file, I honestly think he was gonna end up a mess no matter what. Broken home growing up, went hungry as a kid and ended up built like a twig. Terrible grades in school, seems the teachers got the flak for 'not teaching him right.' Got passed up the grades on pity. Then, it's just a whole lot of black highlighter until present day, when he walks into my office.
Chest cavity had some bits that were probably important removed to make way for an engine. Arms both gone and replaced with chrome ones, somehow housing giant chainsaw blades. I wasn't told how he ended up like this, and I really don't wanna know. I've had some rough cases trying to train people to be ready to fly, drop, and fight. Bad attitudes, out of shape, no work ethic. I like to think I can deal with a 'work in progress' recruit.
I've got this procedure, y'see. Gotta get a good read on the trainees so I can figure out what areas to work on. So I send the desk flying at him before the door even closes, rush in behind it to catch him by surprise. My desk is sawdust and I've got a new haircut before I can take three steps. The kid's quick, and now he's gone and left my entire office in shambles. Scary stuff, but he made a mistake. As soon as the fireworks were over, he pulled his blades in and completely lost focus. I had a gun aimed at his fleshy bits before he could blink. He's got the fighting instincts, and his augments can do some terrifying stuff. But the instant he pauses to think, things just fall to pieces.
I can work with this. If he ran on automatic all the time, I don't think anything could stop him. Gonna have to train that instinct. And get a construction company to put this wing of the building back together.
